GST-USF1
Human Upstream Stimulatory Factor 1 (USF1) regulates the transcription of many genes involved in lipid and glucose homeostasis and colocalizes with familial combined hyperlipidemia (FCHL) and type 2 diabetes on chromosome 1q22-23. (1-3). The USF1 protein can activate transcription through pyrimidine-rich initiator (Inr) elements and E-box motifs. It is a basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (b-HLH-ZIP) protein that shares a common DNA-binding specificity with the c-Myc oncoproteins (4-6).
Recombinant human USF1 is isolated from an E. coli strain that carries the coding sequence of the human USF1 under the control of a T7 promoter.
Synonym: bHLHb11; FCHL; FCHL1; HYPLIP1; MLTF; MLTFI and UEF.
Recombinant USF1 can be used for: 1) in vitro transcription assays; 2) DNA binding assays (gel mobility shift assys and DNA footprint assays), and 3) protein-protein interaction assays.
The purified recombinant protein is greater than 95% homogeneous based on SDS-PAGE analysis.
1 unit equals 1 nanogram of purified protein. 5-50 units are sufficient for the DNA binding assays. 50-500 units are required for in vitro transcription assay and 100 units are required for protein-protein interaction assays.
